Bangalore: Alok Mohan Promoted as Adgp, Sent Abroad for Advanced Training

Alok Mohan, who served as Inspector General of Police, (Western Range), Mangalore from August 2010 to December 2011 has been promoted as the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Recruitment and Training, Bangalore. He took charge of the post on January 2. Alok Mohan was transferred from Mangalore last month and Pratap Reddy was appointed as his successor. He was not given any post at the time of transfer. Now, the state government has announced his appointment as the ADGP. Alok Mohan IPS , who takes the credit for the reduced crime rate in Mangalore during his stint as IGP, has been one of the most admired top police officers in the region. Alok Mohan is new IGP

Alok Mohan (45), an IPS officer of the 1987 batch, took charge as the Inspector-General of Police (Western Range) at the police headquarters here on Friday. Mr. Mohan, who was earlier Inspector-General of Police (Vigilance and Enforcement), Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd., will be the senior-most police officer in charge of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Chikmagalur districts. Speaking to presspersons on the occasion, Mr. Alok Mohan IPS lauded his predecessor Gopal B. Hosur and stressed that he would continue the good work. “We will listen to everybody, but in the end the law will define the boundaries of the police force under me,” he said. Alok Mohan, Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order), said on Monday that the police would take more intensified action against sand mafia in Udupi district. Addressing presspersons after holding a review meeting of police officers at the District Police Office here, Alok Mohan said that the police had taken a serious note of the assault and attempt to murder Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, Assistant Commissioner Shilpa Nag and Village Accountant Kantharaj, when they conducted a raid on a sand extraction site at Kandlur near Kundapur.
