He was speaking to media persons at the town police station here after inspecting the prevailing situation at Kalladka town, which had witnessed unsavoury incidents in the recent past, on Thursday June 15 evening. The city is expected to get a new police commissioner by July-August with the incumbent MN Reddi due for promotion as DGP . One of two senior IPS officers -Alok Mohan IPS or Praveen Sood IPS-is expected to take up the top post.
Reddi, who has gained popularity with his Twitter-friendly approach, is slated to be posted as DGP of the Criminal Investigation Department and Special Units and Economic Offences wings. The current CID chief Bipin Gopalkrishna is retiring by the end of June.
Official sources say that Alok Mohan , who is now ADGP Administration), has a better chance of replacing Reddi. Mohan has previously served as IGP (Western Range).Three years ago, Mohan went to Singapore to study public policy and ater to Harvard University for a master's in public management, making him the first officer from the Karnataka cadre to be selected for this course.
On the other hand, Praveen Sood, Additional DGP, Karnataka State Reserve Police, is no stranger to Bengaluru. He headed the city's traf ic police wing, as well as the law and order division.
Sood, an alumnus of IIT Delhi, has served as Mysuru police commissioner and as home secretary (police services) in his previous posting.
